Facilities Coordinator

The Role

The Facilities Coordinator plays a key role in supporting the Manager Corporate Services to ensure the effective operation, maintenance and presentation of the school's facilities, grounds and amenities. This includes assisting with the supervision of school cleaning and gardening services, coordinating the work of cleaning and gardening staff, and helping to maintain high standards across the school environment.

The successful applicant would coordinate the day-to-day management and maintenance of school grounds, buildings, equipment and amenities, ensuring facilities are safe, functional and well maintained. They will oversee the acquisition, deployment and accurate recording of school assets, while supporting the development and implementation of asset management and maintenance strategies that maximise the longevity and effectiveness of school infrastructure.

Working closely with internal staff, contractors, service providers and community stakeholders, the Facilities Coordinator would coordinate community use of school facilities and ensure maintenance activities are carried out efficiently and in accordance with relevant policies and procedures. The successful applicant would also monitor occupational health and safety (OHS) compliance with relevant legislation and Department policies and coordinate corrective actions to support a safe and compliant school environment.

The role requires strong organisational and communication skills, with a commitment to providing high-quality facilities management services.

Eligibility

To work with us, you must:

• be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
• obtain a valid Working With Children Check before you start; and
• consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit before you start.

  • Demonstrated sound ability to provide effective support and input into the development, implementation and monitoring of school buildings, grounds and facilities and the ability to investigate funding opportunities and prepare and monitor budgets.
  • Demonstrated sound team management and supervisory skills, including the ability to motivate and develop staff.
  • Demonstrated sound written, verbal and interpersonal skills, including the ability to deal effectively with a wide range of individuals at all levels.
  • Demonstrated sound computer skills in a range of application software packages, including spreadsheets and word processing.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Occupational Health and Safety as it relates to facilities and asset maintenance.
