Senior Business Development Manager

As our firm continues to grow, we have an opportunity for an experienced and commercially minded Senior Business Development Manager to join our Business Development team. We are considering applications from Sydney or Melbourne.

About the Role

This is a genuine senior-level opportunity to take on a strategic business development role with a leading intellectual property firm. You will work closely with Partners, practice groups and business services teams to support firm growth, client development and priority market opportunities.

As a senior member of the Business Development team, your role would include:

• business partnering with Partners and practice groups to shape BD plans aligned to firm priorities, regional plans and market opportunities
• using data insights to guide Partner discussions, prioritise opportunity areas and support practical, commercially focused BD decisions
• translating strategic priorities into targeted BD activity across clients, referrers, sectors and practice groups
• providing strategic BD support, coaching and guidance to strengthen relationship development, cross-selling and opportunity conversion
• providing senior oversight of priority opportunities, proposals and tenders, including Partner support, positioning and follow-up
• working with the Global Business Development Manager to ensure BD activity, CRM use and data-informed insights support regional priorities and firm growth
• contributing to a collaborative, high performing and commercially focused BD team culture

About You

You are an experienced business development professional with strong professional services experience and the confidence to operate as a trusted adviser to senior stakeholders. You bring sound commercial judgement, strong relationship skills and the ability to translate strategy and insights into practical action.

You will bring:

• extensive experience in business development and/or marketing in a B2B, professional services or knowledge-based environment
• demonstrated experience working directly with senior stakeholders, Partners or equivalent decision makers
• strong stakeholder management, influencing and communication skills
• the ability to interpret data insights and translate findings into clear, practical recommendations
• experience supporting opportunity pipeline management, client development activity, proposals, tenders or strategic pursuits
• sound commercial judgement and the ability to focus BD activity on strategic priorities and expected return
• a proactive, accountable and collaborative approach
• advanced Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills, and experience using CRM systems to support BD planning and reporting
