Tax Accountant

About the role

Mercury Financial Group is seeking an Accountant to join our team in Queanbeyan. The role would be ideal for an Accountant looking to take the next step in their career. Offering exposure to a broad client base and the opportunity to grow within a supportive, people-focused firm. As a full-time role, you will be responsible for a range of taxation and accounting services to our diverse client base.

Key responsibilities

• Preparing income tax returns for individuals, partnerships, trusts, and companies
• Preparing financial statements for business entities
• Prepare BAS and IAS
• Assist clients with BAS, GST, and payroll compliance
• Liaise with the ATO and other regulatory bodies on behalf of clients
• Support senior accountants and partners

About you

• Minimum 1 year experience in a public accounting firm
• Strong communication skills
• Attention to detail
• A genuine team player who enjoys working alongside others and supporting shared goals
• Experience with Handisoft desirable but not essential
