Tax Accountant

Mercury Financial Group is seeking an Accountant to join our team in Queanbeyan. The role would fit a Senior Accountant or an Intermediate Accountant looking to step up to the next level. Offering exposure to a broad client base and the opportunity to grow within a supportive, people-focused firm. As a full-time role, you will be responsible for a range of taxation and accounting services to our diverse client base. This is an excellent opportunity to join a successful firm of people - not just accountants.

Key Responsibilities and duties:

• Preparing income tax returns for individuals, partnerships, trusts, and companies

• Preparing financial statements for business entities

• Prepare BAS and IAS

• Assist clients with BAS, GST, and payroll compliance

• Liaise with the ATO and other regulatory bodies on behalf of clients

The successful candidate should have:

• Minimum 2 - 3 years experience in a public accounting firm

• Strong communication skills

• Attention to detail

• A genuine team player who enjoys working alongside others and supporting shared goals

• Experience with Handisoft desirable but not essential
