Senior Property Underwriter

Pen Underwriting is seeking an experienced Senior Underwriter to join our Property team. The Role: As a Senior Underwriter, you will be responsible for:Applying underwriting strategies across targeted industries and occupations to deliver profitable growth.Assessing and underwriting new business and renewal opportunities in accordance with Pen Underwriting guidelines and delegated authorities.Providing technical underwriting expertise, including risk assessment, coverage analysis, terms, conditions and pricing for new and existing accounts.Building and maintaining strong relationships with brokers to drive new business opportunities and maximise renewal retention.Collaborating with underwriters across product lines to strengthen broker relationships and identify growth opportunities.Acting as a key technical referral point and mentor for underwriters across the team.Building and maintaining relationships with capacity providers and other key stakeholders.Developing a strong understanding of portfolio performance, market trends and emerging risks to support sound underwriting decisions. What You’ll bring:To succeed in this role, you'll bring a positive, proactive attitude along with:A minimum of 5 years' commercial property underwriting experience.Advanced knowledge of property underwriting principles, tools, processes and guidelines.A strong understanding of the Australian insurance market and broker distribution channels, with a proven ability to build and maintain relationships.Experience underwriting complex property risks and making sound underwriting decisions within delegated authority.Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills.Excellent time management, organisational and prioritisation skills.Strong analytical, problem-solving and attention-to-detail capabilities.Proficiency across the Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook.
