Dual Diagnosis Worker

Part-Time, Fixed-Term (12 months) | 15.2 hours per week (2 days) | Flexible working days

This is an Aboriginal Designated Position, classified under 'special measures' of Section 12 of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010. Only Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are eligible to apply.

 About the role 

Based at Rumbalara’s Seymour Office, the Dual Diagnosis Worker supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people experiencing co-occurring mental health and alcohol and other drug (AOD) challenges.

You will provide practical support, counselling, advocacy and care coordination, working alongside clients to achieve their individual goals and strengthen their social and emotional wellbeing. You will deliver culturally safe, person-centred support and collaborate with internal programs and external services to help clients access the right services and supports when they need them.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

• Certificate IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs or an equivalent qualification is desirable.

• Experience working with Aboriginal communities in a health or social service setting, particularly in relation to AOD issues.

• Experience supporting people with co-occurring mental health and alcohol and other drug concerns.

• Ability to work effectively and respectfully with Aboriginal people and families, recognising their values and practices.

• Strong communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.

• Experience in case management and community-based service delivery.

• Knowledge of harm reduction strategies and culturally appropriate therapeutic interventions.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information with integrity.
