About the role
We are seeking to establish a pool of Education Assistant - Special Needs for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2027 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
Coolbellup Learning Centre is an Education Support school that provides specialist teaching and learning programs for children with disabilities and other high support needs. Catering for children from Kindergarten to Year 6, we provide tailored individualised educational programs for children with diverse needs such as intellectual disability, Autism, Down Syndrome and Cerebral Palsy.

The Role
Suitable applicants will, under teacher direction, assist in the implementation of specialised education programs. You will also provide feedback on education and therapy programs and participate in the evaluation process relating to the achievement of goals in special education.
We are seeking high-quality and ideally qualified Education Assistants who are enthusiastic and dedicated to teaching and supporting students with Autism, intellectual disabilities, physical disabilities, sensory impairment, and challenging behaviours.
Applicants with a Certificate 3 or 4 in Special Needs and experience working in an education support specific setting are highly desirable. Applicants should be able to work with a range of student cohorts, including homogenous ability groups and cross-set multi-age groups.
Experience in managing difficult behaviour and knowledge of Team Teach is also desirable. The ability to work with students using a range of Alternative Augmentative Communication Devices and/or Auslan Key Word Sign is preferred. The ability to work effectively with a team is the key to success in this role.
