This role 

We are looking for a Marketing Operations Specialist who is an AI-first automation specialist, possessing the deep Marketo expertise required to dismantle manual processes and replace them with autonomous systems.

In this role, you will be the architect of our marketing engine. You are not just a campaign executor; you are a systems orchestrator tasked with driving the transition from traditional, manual ways of working toward a future of AI-assisted automation. Your mission is to ruthlessly eliminate human friction and technical debt, leveraging AI to build smarter, self-sustaining workflows that redefine operational excellence.

This will include

• Platform Management & Support: Manage the day-to-day operations of our Marketo instance to support the broader business, ensuring high system uptime, flawless execution, and scalable processes.
• Lead Investigations & Troubleshooting: Act as the ultimate problem-solver for funnel leakage. Conduct deep-dive lead investigations to troubleshoot routing issues, scoring anomalies, and synchronisation errors between Marketo and Salesforce.
• Operational & Campaign Optimisation: Drive continuous Marketo optimisation. You will look beyond “how it’s always been done” to streamline campaign logic, apply AI to repetitive processes, and increase our speed-to-market.
• Cross-Functional Business Alignment: Develop a comprehensive, solid understanding of Employment Hero’s marketing, sales, and overarching business processes. You will deconstruct these business requirements into raw data constraints and technical solutions.
• System Overhaul & Simplification: Partner with the Senior Marketing Operations Manager on high-level, strategic projects aimed at ruthlessly overhauling and simplifying our Marketo instance. Your goal is to eliminate technical debt and build a clean, sustainable “Marketecture.”
• List Operations Management: Manage and oversee the List Operations function. You will ensure pristine data hygiene, accurate segmentation, and timely list execution, while proactively exploring how AI and data enrichment agents can automate these historically manual tasks.
• Ruthless Documentation: Maintain comprehensive, up-to-date documentation for all systems and workflows. You will ensure that our marketing infrastructure is never a “black box,” making processes transparent, accessible, and easy for the broader team to understand.

Who you are

• Deep Marketo Expertise: 5+ years of hands-on, advanced experience managing Marketo instances in a fast-paced B2B environment (Marketo Certified Expert preferred).
• An AI-First Mindset: You don’t just want to build workflows; you want to build agentic workflows. You have a strong appetite for using AI tools (like LLMs, automated agents, or advanced orchestration platforms) to solve traditional MarOps problems.
• Systems Thinking: You possess a “first principles” problem-solving approach. You can see how data flows through the entire MarTech ecosystem (from initial touchpoint to Salesforce opportunity) and understand how to build solutions that scale.
• CRM Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of Salesforce, specifically how it integrates with Marketo (custom objects, field mapping, lifecycle stage transitions, and sync mechanics).
• Operational Discipline: High autonomy with a focus on delivering value over volume. You are comfortable pushing back on scope creep to prioritize system integrity and business impact.
• Growth & Improvement Mindset: You possess an insatiable curiosity about the “why” and a relentless obsession with continuous improvement. Guided by first-principles thinking, you believe that “the best part is no part” and constantly seek to simplify or remove unnecessary complexity.
