Associate – Business & Corporate Law

An excellent opportunity for an Associate Lawyer to join the established Business & Corporate practice of a highly regarded Canberra law firm.

Working directly with two of Canberra's leading and highly experienced business and corporate law Directors, this role offers exceptional access to senior practitioners, quality commercial work and the opportunity to continue developing into a well-rounded business and corporate lawyer.

This is an ideal opportunity for a lawyer who enjoys working closely with clients, understanding the commercial drivers behind their matters and providing practical, solutions-focused advice.

Joining an established and highly regarded Business & Corporate law practice, you will work across a diverse range of commercial matters for private businesses, corporate clients, government organisations, industry and professional bodies and other sophisticated clients.

Your work will include:

• Business and corporate advisory matters

• Drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts and agreements

• Corporate governance and directors' duties

• Business structures, including companies, trusts, joint ventures and partnerships

• Business acquisitions, disposals and broader transactional matters

• Contracting and licensing arrangements

• Insolvency, restructuring and debtor strategy matters

• Intellectual property and commercialisation matters

• General commercial and regulatory advice

• Working directly with clients and their other professional advisers

You will have the opportunity to take increasing ownership of matters while continuing to work closely with and learn from senior practitioners with significant expertise across business, corporate and commercial law.

We are interested in speaking with lawyers who have developed a foundation in commercial, corporate or business law and are looking to take the next step in their career.

Ideally, you will bring:

• Approximately 2–5 years' PQE, although candidates outside this range with relevant experience are encouraged to apply.

• Experience across commercial contracts, corporate advisory, business transactions or related areas.

• Strong drafting, analytical and communication skills.

• Commercial judgement and an ability to provide practical, client-focused advice.

• Confidence working directly with clients and developing strong professional relationships.

• A collaborative approach and genuine interest in building your career within business and corporate law.

You do not need to have experience across every aspect of the practice. Of greater importance, is a strong commercial foundation, intellectual curiosity and an appetite to broaden your expertise.
