About the role
EcOz Environmental Consultants is seeking an Environmental Consultant to join our Water and Soils Team in Darwin. This is a hands-on role contributing to meaningful water, soil and contaminated land projects across northern and central Australia. With around 1 to 5 years' experience in environmental science, water, soil, contaminated land or a related discipline, you will contribute to environmental projects through field investigations, monitoring programs, technical reporting and project support. You will work closely with senior staff while developing your technical and consulting skills. Appointment level will depend on demonstrated experience and capability.
Key responsibilities
Assist with the planning and delivery of water, soil and related environmental projects.
Undertake field investigations, environmental monitoring programs, sampling and site assessments.
Collect, record and manage field data in accordance with project requirements and QA/QC procedures.
Assist with the preparation of technical reports, monitoring reports, proposals, sampling plans and other project deliverables.
Support project managers to deliver projects safely, efficiently and within agreed timeframes and budgets.
Build and maintain effective relationships with clients, regulators, contractors, Traditional Owners, landholders and internal teams.
Maintain high standards of workplace health and safety, quality assurance and professional conduct.
Apply relevant NT, Commonwealth and Australian legislation, standards and technical guidance.
Contribute to a collaborative and practical team culture while continuously developing technical and consulting skills.
Support safe and efficient field programs, including remote work and occasional extended field trips.
About you
A degree in environmental science, environmental management or related discipline.
Approximately 1 to 5 years' professional experience in environmental consulting, industry or government.
Experience undertaking environmental fieldwork, investigations, monitoring programs or site assessments.
Ability to analyse data and prepare clear, accurate technical reports.
Understanding of, or willingness to learn, relevant environmental legislation, standards and regulatory requirements.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients and project teams.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, with an organised, motivated and self-directed approach.
Willingness to undertake remote fieldwork, travel and occasional extended field trips.
NT drivers' license, or ability to obtain one.
