Job Description

Anglo American is seeking an experienced Mechanical Technician Coal Clearance to join the underground maintenance team at Moranbah North Mine. This position is responsible for maintaining and repairing the underground coal clearance system, helping ensure equipment remains safe, reliable and available to support production.

About The Role,

Working as part of the underground maintenance team, you will carry out planned and breakdown maintenance on coal clearance equipment and associated infrastructure.

Your key responsibilities will include:

Performing planned, preventative and breakdown maintenanceMaintaining underground conveyor systems and coal clearance equipmentInspecting, repairing and replacing mechanical componentsCompleting conveyor belt maintenance, tracking and fault-findingMaintaining gearboxes, drives, pulleys, idlers, chutes and transfer pointsIdentifying equipment defects and reporting maintenance requirementsSupporting equipment inspections and planned maintenance activitiesWorking with operations and other maintenance personnel to minimise downtimeCompleting maintenance records and work orders accuratelyFollowing site safety systems, isolation procedures and underground mining requirementsContributing to a positive, respectful and safety-focused team environmentCurrent CBM and Standard 11

Qualifications

About You

To be successful in this position, you will ideally have:

A recognised Australian mechanical trade qualificationPrevious mechanical maintenance experience in underground coal miningExperience maintaining conveyor or coal clearance systemsStrong mechanical fault finding and problem-solving skillsA good understanding of isolation, risk management and permit-to-work requirementsThe ability to work safely and effectively in an underground environmentStrong communication and teamwork skillsA current driver’s licenceThe ability to meet site medical and fitness for work requirements

Experience with longwall coal clearance systems, underground conveyors, belt maintenance and fixed plant equipment will be highly regarded.
