Operator Maintainer - Mechanical - Coal Clearance

Anglo American is seeking an experienced Mechanical Technician Coal Clearance to join the underground maintenance team at Moranbah North Mine. This position is responsible for maintaining and repairing the underground coal clearance system, helping ensure equipment remains safe, reliable and available to support production.

About the role,

Working as part of the underground maintenance team, you will carry out planned and breakdown maintenance on coal clearance equipment and associated infrastructure.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Performing planned, preventative and breakdown maintenance
• Maintaining underground conveyor systems and coal clearance equipment
• Inspecting, repairing and replacing mechanical components
• Completing conveyor belt maintenance, tracking and fault-finding
• Maintaining gearboxes, drives, pulleys, idlers, chutes and transfer points
• Identifying equipment defects and reporting maintenance requirements
• Supporting equipment inspections and planned maintenance activities
• Working with operations and other maintenance personnel to minimise downtime
• Completing maintenance records and work orders accurately
• Following site safety systems, isolation procedures and underground mining requirements
• Contributing to a positive, respectful and safety-focused team environment
• Current CBM and Standard 11

About You

To be successful in this position, you will ideally have:

• A recognised Australian mechanical trade qualification
• Previous mechanical maintenance experience in underground coal mining
• Experience maintaining conveyor or coal clearance systems
• Strong mechanical fault finding and problem-solving skills
• A good understanding of isolation, risk management and permit-to-work requirements
• The ability to work safely and effectively in an underground environment
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• A current driver’s licence
• The ability to meet site medical and fitness for work requirements

Experience with longwall coal clearance systems, underground conveyors, belt maintenance and fixed plant equipment will be highly regarded.
