Open opportunity: Senior Electrical Engineer

The selected professional will provide electrical engineering expertise to support the development of utility-scale Solar PV, BESS, and hybrid renewable energy projects across Australia. This role will drive the optimization, technical definition, and de-risking of electrical solutions during the development phase, ensuring projects are technically robust and commercially viable before reaching Final Investment Decision (FID).

What will you do?
Develop and optimize electrical concepts, layouts, and architectures for Solar PV, BESS, and hybrid renewable energy projects.Define preliminary electrical designs, including MV collection systems, substations, transformer and inverter configurations, and single-line diagrams (SLDs).Evaluate and compare technical solutions based on performance, cost, constructability, and project risk.Support technology selection and OEM evaluation (inverters, transformers, BESS solutions). Perform and review energy yield assessments, PVsyst simulations, and plant optimization studies to maximize project performance.Support grid connection design activities by assessing substations, cable routing, connection infrastructure, and electrical interfaces with the grid.Technical due diligence, manage engineering consultants, identify technical risks and mitigation measures.Provide technical inputs for CAPEX estimates, financial models, and investment approvals.
What do we need?
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification.7+ years of experience in electrical engineering roles within renewable energy sector.Experience with Solar PV, BESS, and/or hybrid power projects.Strong knowledge of HV/MV electrical systems, renewable energy plant design, substations, and grid connection infrastructure.Hands-on experience with PVsyst and the review of technical studies and engineering deliverables.Excellent analytical, problem-solving, stakeholder management, and communication skills, with the ability to balance technical and commercial considerations.
