District Eatery is a modern neighbourhood café in Gladesville, Sydney, known for its elevated brunch and relaxed local vibe.
It serves all-day breakfast, brunch, and lunch, focusing on fresh seasonal ingredients, specialty coffee (including St Ali), and creative takes on Aussie café classics.
   
District Eatery is now looking for an experienced Cook to join their team.
   
The right candidate will be responsible for:

• Assist chefs with the preparation and cooking of breakfast, brunch and lunch dishes;
• Prepare, cook and portion ingredients including meat, poultry, seafood, eggs, vegetables, grains and other fresh produce;
• Cook menu items using appropriate techniques such as grilling, frying, poaching, roasting, sautéing and baking;
• Prepare dishes in accordance with established recipes, portion sizes, presentation standards and customer orders;
• Assist with the preparation of menu items such as egg dishes, burgers, breakfast rolls, bowls, salads and other café meals;
• Monitor the quality, freshness and consistency of ingredients and finished dishes;
• Minimise food wastage through appropriate portion control, preparation and storage practices;
• Ensure ingredients and prepared foods are correctly labelled, dated, rotated and stored in accordance with food safety requirements;
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of kitchen work areas, cooking equipment and utensils;
• Follow food safety, workplace health and safety, allergen management and hygiene procedures;
• Assist chefs with stock control, receiving deliveries and monitoring kitchen supplies;
• Coordinate with chefs, kitchen staff and front-of-house staff to ensure meals are prepared accurately and served efficiently;
• Assist with training junior kitchen staff in food preparation, cooking methods, plating and kitchen procedures;
• Contribute to menu changes and specials by providing feedback on preparation methods, ingredients and presentation; and
• Assist with the efficient day-to-day operation of the kitchen during busy breakfast, brunch and lunch service periods.

About you:

• At least 1 year of experience as a Cook;
• Strong cooking, food preparation and kitchen organisation skills;
• Ability to work efficiently as part of a kitchen team and manage multiple orders during busy service periods;
• Good knowledge of cooking techniques, food presentation and portion control;
• Ability to assist chefs and other kitchen staff throughout service;
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining consistent food quality;
• Good understanding of food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements;
• Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen environment; and
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Job type: Permanent/full-time
Salary: $79,000 - $85,000
