Chief Operations Officer

Gidgee Healing is seeking an experienced and visionary Chief Operations Officer (COO) to join our Executive Management Team and play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering high-quality, culturally responsive healthcare and wellbeing services across Mount Isa and the Lower Gulf region.

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the COO will provide executive leadership across all operational service areas, ensuring our clinical, community, social and emotional wellbeing, and family health programs deliver exceptional outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

The Opportunity

As Chief Operations Officer, you will provide executive oversight of all service delivery operations and lead a diverse portfolio of clinical and community-based programs.

You will be responsible for:

• Providing strategic and operational leadership across all services and programs
• Driving high-quality, evidence-based and culturally responsive care delivery
• Leading and mentoring senior managers and operational leaders
• Strengthening organisational performance, service planning, evaluation and continuous improvement
• Ensuring program compliance, performance reporting and funding accountability
• Developing workforce strategies to support service growth and sustainability
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with government agencies, funding bodies, health services, community organisations and key stakeholders
• Contributing to organisational strategy and future service development as a member of the Executive Management Team
• Identifying emerging community needs and driving innovative service responses

About You

You are an accomplished executive leader with a strong track record of leading complex health, community or human services organisations.

You will bring:

Essential

• Tertiary qualifications in Health Care, Health Planning, Health Promotion or a related discipline
• Significant senior leadership experience within health, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander services, community services or related sectors
• Demonstrated experience designing, implementing and evaluating health or community programs
• Strong understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and the social determinants of health
• Exceptional strategic planning, operational leadership and change management capabilities
• Experience managing budgets, program performance and funding agreements
• Proven ability to build influential partnerships across government, non-government and community sectors
• Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and negotiation skills
• Strong analytical, risk management and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to travel throughout the region as required

Highly Regarded

• Postgraduate qualifications in Health, Business, Public Health or a related discipline
• Experience within an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (ACCHO)
• Experience in primary healthcare and/or not-for-profit environments

Additional Requirements

The successful applicant must possess or be willing to obtain:

• Current Queensland C Class Driver Licence
• National Police Check
• Blue Card (Working with Children Check)
• Capacity to travel, including overnight stays in remote communities as required
