Senior Exploration Geologist

Barto Gold is a privately owned Australian gold explorer, developer, and producer who has been operating since 2009 and is focused on gold exploration and production in Western Australia. Its flagship project is located at Marvel Loch in Western Australia, operating multiple open pits and an underground mine, which services a 2.1Mt per annum name plate processing facility. These are supported by a tenement holding of greater than 1,400km2 over the prospective Southern Cross Greenstone Belt only 4 and a half hours from Perth.

Significant project investment to date has resulted in the company being well positioned, developing its multiple >5-year mine life underground mines, in conjunction with continuing to produce from its open pit operations. Currently the company operates three producing undergrounds and one open pit.

Due to this exciting growth and internal promotion, we are actively seeking to recruit a Senior Exploration Geologist to join our Southern Cross operation. This position will be 8 days on 6 days off BIBO from Perth; however, other travel options are available for professionals not residing in Perth.

About the role:

The successful applicant will join a small dynamic team of individuals from diverse and culturally different backgrounds that support each other. The Senior Exploration Geologist will work closely with the Project geologist, Exploration geologists and a team of field technicians to ensure successful outcomes.

Reporting to and supported by Senior Exploration Superintendents, you will provide the hands-on implementation of the operational exploration plan. The role will allow you to manage and build relationships with a team of exploration professionals who are committed to building a culture that is progressive and will grow with the company as it expands.

About you:

This role is open to Exploration Geologist wanting to take a step up and experienced Senior Exploration Geologists.

Essential to being successful in consideration for this role. You will possess the following skills, qualifications & personal attributes:

• Tertiary qualifications in Geology.
• Demonstrated keen attention to detail and proactiveness.
• Competent oral or written skills combined with general administrative organisation.
• Knowledge of RC and diamond drilling operations including logging and data validation.
• Knowledge of 3D software such as Leapfrog, Micromine, Surpac etc.
• Excellent GIS skills in the use of QGIS, ArcGIS , Mapinfo.
• Understanding of Western Australian statutory requirements and qualifications.
• Overseeing staff and contractors involved in exploration activities, with a strong focus in OH&S and maintaining high levels of safety standards.
• High level mentoring, training and development skills
• Ability to coordinate and execute exploration activities within the planned budget
• Demonstrated planning, analytical, report writing and communication skills
• Assist with developing exploration targeting criteria as well as long-term and short-term strategies
