Tax Accountant

About the role

This is a part-time role ideally suited to those wishing to work during school hours or times that suit them. This role is a work from home role with the ability to work in the office if needed. However, you will start off working in the office.

Key responsibilities

• Preparation of Financial Statements (and supporting workpaper) and tax returns for a variety of clients including individuals, sole traders, partnerships, and trusts

• Preparation of Business Activity Statements

• Payroll preparation and STP reporting for clients

• Attending to ASIC annual returns and other ASIC forms

• Attending to daily ATO mail

• Other duties as directed

About you

• A completed degree in accounting or related field

• 5+ years public practice and tax experience in Australia

• Excellent written and spoken communication skills

• Sound knowledge of MYOB is essential

• Experience with MYOB Accountants Office/Accountants Enterprise (MYOB AO/AE) is essential unless you are confident in switching to other practise management software without too much training

• Experience with BGL Simple Fund 360 + CAS 360 + Simple Invest preferred but not essential

• A high level of proficiency in both spoken and written English is preferred

• Solid technical knowledge of accounting & taxation

• Ability to communicate clearly, confidently and professionally with clients, colleagues, the ATO and other organisations, as well as prepare accurate correspondence and documentation

• Experience with using Microsoft Office 365
