Assistant General Manager

About the role

Mercure Port of Echuca is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Assistant General Manager to join our team and play a key role in the day-to-day operation of our 60-room Accor property.

This is a unique live-in opportunity for an experienced hospitality professional looking to take the next step in their career and gain valuable, hands-on experience across all areas of hotel management.

The role would be particularly well suited to an experienced Front Office Manager, Duty Manager or hospitality supervisor who is ready to progress towards a General Manager position. You will work closely with the General Manager and leadership team to ensure the smooth and successful operation of the hotel, with exposure to Front Office, Guest Services, Functions & Events, Food & Beverage, staff management and overall hotel operations. Previous hotel management experience is preferred but not essential.

We are looking for someone with the right attitude, strong hospitality experience and a genuine desire to develop their career. Training and support will be provided.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the General Manager with the day-to-day operations of the hotel

• Support and lead the Front Office team to deliver exceptional guest experiences

• Oversee hotel operations in the absence of the General Manager

• Assist with the planning and management of functions, events and group bookings

• Coordinate with Food & Beverage, Housekeeping and other departments to ensure smooth operations

• Assist with staff training, supervision, rostering and performance management

• Handle guest enquiries, feedback and complaints professionally and efficiently

• Maintain high standards of presentation, service and hospitality throughout the property

• Monitor room availability, bookings and hotel occupancy

• Assist with revenue management and maximising hotel performance

About you

• Experienced in hospitality, preferably within a hotel environment

• Ideally experienced as a Front Office Manager, Duty Manager, Supervisor or similar

• Looking to take the next step towards a senior hotel management position

• Confident leading and motivating a team

• Friendly, professional and approachable

• Highly organised with excellent attention to detail

• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment

• Confident handling guest issues and resolving problems

• Flexible and willing to assist across different areas of the hotel when required

• Available to work a flexible roster, including weekends and public holidays when required
