Baker

The Multi-Award Winning family owned and managed business, The Village Baker is looking for an experienced baker to join this busy bakery that supplies to two retail stores as well as wholesale customers.  Based in our Black Forest location, this is a wonderful opportunity to join a team of dedicated professionals who prides themselves on creating quality products for a discerning and loyal customer base.

The successful applicant must show a high level of knowledge in artisan baking and pastry making. The applicant will need to be a positive person who is team oriented, self-motivated and takes personal pride in producing quality food on a daily basis.  Being well-organised, methodical and being able to demonstrate a strong work ethic in previous roles are a must.  The candidate needs to be reliable and will understand that working independently are critical aspects of this role. The role will consist of the following key responsibilities,

• Evaluating the condition of raw ingredients and accurately measuring quantities

• Making and assembling fillings for various pie/pastry items

• Keeping track of oven settings and how products look to decide on proper baking durations

• Cleaning out, greasing, and preparing baking trays, pans, and other utensils used in the production process

• Inspecting equipment cleanliness and the overall workplace setup prior to production to ensure they meet health and safety standards

• Keeping the work area clean, tidy and organised after their shift

  A qualified applicant must have the right positive attitude of learning evident, minimum certificate level 3 and the candidate can also demonstrate that their ability to follow directions is proven in other roles.  The successful applicant must show some years of experience and the position will pay award rates and shift allowances where applicable.  A strong understanding and command of the English language is essential. In this position, the shifts with be evenings and nights, and the hours will vary between  5 shifts a week over a 6 day roster.
