Deputy (Underground)

About the Role:

As a Mining Deputy you will be responsible for leading operational crews, maintaining statutory compliance and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and in line with the site operations plan. Responsibilities are: 

• Lead crews to safely execute daily and weekly operating plans.
• Direct, control and monitor work activities in assigned districts.
• Take statutory responsibility for inspections, reporting and compliance requirements.
• Manage shift priorities, resources, equipment and workforce allocation.
• Complete effective shift handovers and communicate key operational risks and priorities.
• Monitor safety, quality and productivity performance throughout the shift.
• Coach, support and develop crew members to improve capability and performance.
• Contribute to continuous improvement across safety, production, cost and efficiency.

You will need:

• Extensive experience in underground coal mining.
• Demonstrated understanding of coal mining processes, site operations and relevant mining legislation.
• Queensland Deputy / ERZ Controller competency or NSW Deputy Certificate with mutual recognition.
• Current First Aid Certificate.
• Current S1, S2, S3 and G2 competencies.
• Strong leadership, planning, communication and problem-solving skills.
• A proactive approach and genuine commitment to Zero Harm.
