Head of Department - Health and Physical Education (7-12)

Redeemer Lutheran College is seeking an exceptional educational leader to join our Senior School team as Head of Department - Health & Physical Education (Years 7-12), commencing in Term 1 2027. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and passionate educator to lead a high-performing department, influence teaching and learning outcomes, and contribute to the holistic development of students within a vibrant Christian learning community.

About the Role

Reporting to the Principal through the Head of Teaching and Learning, the Head of Department - HPE is responsible for leading curriculum development, teaching excellence, assessment practices, and staff performance across the HPE Department. You will play a pivotal role in fostering innovation, maintaining high academic standards, and creating engaging learning experiences that inspire students to achieve their personal best.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading and developing the strategic direction of the HPE curriculum across Years 7-12.

• Supporting and mentoring HPE teachers to achieve excellence in classroom practice.

• Driving curriculum innovation, assessment moderation, and data-informed improvement initiatives.

• Building a positive, collaborative and high-performing departmental culture.

• Managing departmental resources, budgets and operational requirements.

• Partnering with students, families and colleagues to promote student growth, wellbeing and achievement.

You are an accomplished educator and leader who is passionate about quality teaching and student outcomes. You thrive in a collaborative environment and have the ability to inspire others through strong leadership, professional expertise and a commitment to continuous improvement.
