Cannabis Doctors Tasmania (CDT) is a doctor-led, independent telehealth clinic specialising in medicinal cannabis consultations for patients with chronic and complex health conditions.

We are looking for doctors who want to build a flexible telehealth practice around their existing commitments — whether that's one session a week, several sessions, or a substantial part-time workload.

No commute. No Medicare billing. No practice overheads. No corporate KPIs. No pressure to prescribe particular products.

Just clinical medicine, supported by an experienced administrative team.

• $170–$260+ per clinical hour, depending on appointment mix

CDT is funded entirely through consultation fees.

We do not receive commissions, rebates, incentives or other financial benefits from pharmacies, medicinal cannabis companies or product manufacturers.

Doctors are therefore free to recommend treatment based solely on the patient's clinical circumstances, preferences and budget.

Patients are also free to use the pharmacy of their choice.

We believe this independence is important — both ethically and clinically.

Appointments can be offered between 8:00 am and 10:00 pm, seven days a week.

You choose when you work.

The role can suit doctors who want to:

• supplement an existing income

• work remotely around family commitments

• combine telehealth with another clinical role

• reduce their face-to-face workload

• build a substantial telehealth practice

• transition towards greater flexibility without giving up clinical work

Patient demand is strong, and doctors can generally establish a busy appointment book relatively quickly.

Doctors are paid on a percentage-of-billings model.

Current consultation fees:

Initial consultation – 30 minutes: $139
Follow-up consultation – 15 minutes: $99

Indicative doctor earnings are approximately:

Initial consultations: $166–$181+ per clinical hour
Follow-up consultations: $238–$257+ per clinical hour

As your patient base develops, follow-up consultations generally make up an increasing proportion of your workload.

Actual earnings depend on appointment mix, availability and clinical workflow, with experienced clinicians potentially earning above these indicative ranges.

You will provide telehealth consultations for patients with chronic and complex medical conditions who have not achieved adequate symptom control with conventional treatment.

Your role will include:

• comprehensive clinical assessment

• reviewing previous investigations and treatment

• assessing suitability for medicinal cannabis

• developing individualised treatment plans

• monitoring treatment response and adverse effects

• reviewing treatment outcomes over time

• communicating with the patient's regular GP and other healthcare providers

• maintaining appropriate clinical documentation and prescribing practices

Our administrative team manages appointment scheduling, patient communication, prescription processing and day-to-day logistics, allowing you to focus on the clinical consultation.

We support doctors to practise according to evidence, clinical judgement and current regulatory requirements.

Our model includes:

• independent, brand-neutral prescribing

• patient choice regarding dispensing pharmacy

• detailed written consultation summaries

• routine communication with the patient's regular GP

• clinically appropriate and cost-conscious treatment

• structured follow-up

• routine outcome monitoring

• collaborative care with the patient's broader healthcare team

We encourage thoughtful, individualised prescribing rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.

Previous medicinal cannabis prescribing experience is not required.

We provide comprehensive onboarding, education and ongoing clinical mentoring to help you become confident in this area of medicine.

We're looking for doctors with:

• current AHPRA registration

• at least three years' clinical experience

• strong communication and consultation skills

• confidence providing care via telehealth

• an interest in chronic disease and patients with complex health needs

• a professional, patient-centred approach to clinical care
