Civil Construction Estimator

Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced and motivated Civil Construction Estimator to join our team.

About the Role

Reporting directly to senior management, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive tenders and estimates for civil construction projects. You will play a key role in securing new work by analysing project documentation, assessing costs, and developing comprehensive pricing submissions.

This position offers the opportunity to work across a variety of projects and contribute directly to the company's ongoing success.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and interpret tender documentation, plans, specifications, and schedules.

• Prepare detailed cost estimates and tender submissions.

• Obtain and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations.

• Assess construction methodologies and project risks.

• Develop project budgets and cost plans.

• Prepare tender clarifications and respond to client queries.

• Assist with contract reviews and handover to project delivery teams.

• Maintain estimating databases and pricing schedules.

• Participate in post-tender negotiations and value engineering opportunities.

• Monitor market rates and industry trends.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Previous experience as an Estimator within the civil construction industry.

• Strong understanding of civil construction methodologies and project delivery.

• Experience estimating earthworks, roads, drainage, utilities, subdivisions, or infrastructure projects.

• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.

• Excellent numerical and analytical skills.

• Strong communication and negotiation abilities.

• High attention to detail and organisational skills.

• Ability to work independently and meet tender deadlines.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, MS Project and estimating software.

Desired Qualifications & Experience

• Qualification/experience in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or related discipline.

• Minimum 3 years' estimating experience in civil construction.

• Experience with local government, state government, and private sector tenders.

• Knowledge of Australian Standards and construction contracts.

• Experience with project management or estimating software is highly regarded.
