Civil Construction Estimator

As part of this role, you will take ownership of the estimating process from initial enquiry through to tender submission, preparing accurate and competitive bids while working closely with our operations team to develop winning tender strategies.

This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced estimator with a strong background in civil construction who enjoys working across diverse infrastructure projects and wants to contribute to both the growth of the business and the ongoing development of our estimating function.

As our Civil Construction Estimator, you'll play a critical role in the continued success of Hardline Group by preparing high-quality estimates, identifying commercial opportunities and supporting the growth of our client base.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing accurate cost estimates and competitive tender submissions for civil construction projects.

• Reviewing drawings, specifications, scopes of work and contract documentation.

• Completing quantity take-offs and detailed cost build-ups.

• Conducting site inspections and assessing project requirements.

• Obtaining and negotiating supplier and subcontractor pricing.

• Identifying project risks, opportunities and value engineering initiatives.

• Assisting with tender methodologies and construction programmes.

• Working closely with Project Managers to ensure seamless tender handovers.

• Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants, suppliers and subcontractors.

• Supporting business development activities by identifying opportunities and contributing to client growth.

• Monitoring market trends, pricing movements and upcoming opportunities.

• Maintaining estimating databases, supplier pricing and historical cost information.

• Contributing to the ongoing development and improvement of Hardline Group's estimating systems, processes and procedures.

You're a commercially minded estimator who enjoys solving problems, delivering accurate pricing and working collaboratively within a high-performing team..

You will have:

• Demonstrated estimating experience within the civil construction industry.

• Proven experience estimating projects within the renewables, energy, telecommunications, utilities or broader infrastructure sectors.

• A strong understanding of construction methodologies, project costing and tender preparation.

• The ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and contract documentation.

• Excellent analytical, commercial and problem-solving skills.

• High attention to detail with exceptional organisational and time management abilities.

• Strong communication, relationship-building and negotiation skills.

• Experience using estimating software and the Microsoft Office Suite.

• The ability to manage multiple tenders while meeting deadlines.

• A proactive mindset with a genuine desire to contribute to continuous improvement and growth at Hardline Group.
