Factory Foreman

Ortech Industries is an Australian manufacturer based in Bendigo, producing Durra Panel and Durra Steel products for the building and construction industry. We're looking for an experienced Factory Foreman to take ownership of our production floor and lead our team to deliver safely, efficiently, and to the high-quality standards our customers expect.

About the Role

This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll supervise day-to-day production activities, coordinate a team of supervisors and production workers, and act as the key link between the floor and management. You'll drive output against KPIs, champion safety culture, and play a central role in continuous improvement across the plant.

What You'll Be Doing

• Supervising production floor employees and running daily pre-shift briefings

• Allocating tasks and managing workforce deployment to maximise productivity

• Mentoring and coaching your team, identifying training and development needs

• Working closely with the production scheduler to ensure work orders are completed accurately and on time

• Identifying and resolving bottlenecks or inefficiencies on the line

• Enforcing SOPs, product specifications, and quality standards, including in-process checks

• Leading root cause analysis and corrective actions for non-conformances

• Championing a strong safety culture — toolbox talks, hazard identification, safety inspections, and incident investigations

• Generating and updating in-house work orders (Excel) and maintaining our project management system

• Driving Lean, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives on the floor

What We're Looking For

Essential:

• 3–5+ years' experience in a manufacturing or production environment

• Previous supervisory or leading-hand experience in a factory setting

• Strong computer literacy, including confidence in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook

• Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings, work orders, and SOPs

• Solid working knowledge of WHS legislation and safe work practices

Desirable:

• Experience leading a multi-disciplinary team

• Exposure to Lean manufacturing, 5S, or Six Sigma methodologies

• Forklift or other relevant machinery licence

You'll bring strong leadership and communication skills, a level head under pressure, and a genuine commitment to safety and quality — along with the reliability and professionalism to earn the trust of your team and management alike.

The Details

• Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM

• Environment: Factory/warehouse setting

• Note: Daily breathalyser and random drug testing conducted on site
