Piling Rig Operator

About the Role

PSD Energy is seeking an experienced Piling Rig Operator to join our civil construction team on our next Solar Farm in regional SA, this a large-scale renewable energy project.

This role is responsible for the safe, accurate and efficient operation of piling rigs to install structural foundations on solar farm projects. You will work closely with site supervisors, engineers, and the broader civil team to ensure piles are installed to specification, safely and in line with project requirements.

This is a hands-on site-based role suited to someone with strong technical ability, good attention to detail and a safety-first approach.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will be responsible for operating piling rigs to install piles accurately and safely, including positioning and aligning the rig using survey marks, GPS equipment or laser alignment tools as required.

You will read and interpret technical drawings and piling plans, adjust rig settings based on site and ground conditions, and ensure piles are installed to the required depth, angle and alignment.

You will also conduct pre-start checks, routine maintenance checks and report on rig performance. The role will involve maintaining accurate piling records, including installation depth, torque, refusal levels, locations, rig logs and equipment service checks.

You will work closely with supervisors, engineers, offsiders and civil team members to meet daily piling targets, troubleshoot issues on site and support safe, productive work practices.

To be successful, you will have:

• Proven experience operating poling rigs on civil construction, infrastructure or renewable energy projects. Experience on solar farm projects will be highly regarded.
• Current White Card
• Proven piling rig operating experience
• Experience operating piling rigs such as Soilmec, Bauer or similar
• Strong understanding of safe piling methods, ground conditions and site controls
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and piling plans
• RIICFW304E – Conduct Piling Operations, or equivalent, preferred
• Strong safety awareness and commitment to WHS requirements
• Good communication, organisation and time management skills
• Ability to work away from home and across project sites as required
