This recruitment campaign is being used to establish a talent pool for anticipated opportunities over the next 18 months across two role types:

• Policy Officer
• Analyst Strategy

Successful candidates may be considered for ongoing or temporary opportunities as they arise across NSW Resources.

As a Policy Officer or Analyst within NSW Resources, you will play an important role in supporting strategic policy development, regulatory initiatives and evidence-based decision making across the resources sector. Working on complex and emerging issues, you will undertake research, analysis and stakeholder engagement to identify trends, risks and opportunities that inform policies, programs and projects supporting the responsible management of New South Wales' mineral and petroleum resources.

Your work will contribute to shaping outcomes that support a safe, sustainable and productive resources industry while delivering benefits for regional communities and the people of NSW. These roles offer the opportunity to work across a diverse range of priority areas, providing meaningful insights and practical solutions that help address current and future challenges facing the resources sector.

In these roles, you will:

• Undertake research and analysis to support policy, regulatory and strategic initiatives.
 • Identify and assess emerging issues, trends, risks and opportunities affecting the resources sector.
 • Contribute to the development of evidence-based policy advice, recommendations and options.
 • Prepare high-quality briefings, reports, correspondence and other business documentation.
 • Collaborate with stakeholders across government, industry and the community to support informed decision making.
 • Translate complex information into clear and practical advice for a range of audiences.
 • Contribute to projects and initiatives that support the responsible and sustainable development of NSW's resources sector.

About You

We are seeking curious and motivated professionals who enjoy analysing complex issues, developing practical solutions and contributing to work that has a meaningful impact across NSW. You are a strong communicator who can translate information into clear insights, build productive relationships with stakeholders and adapt confidently in a fast-paced environment.

You will be:

• Analytical and strategic, with the ability to research issues and identify trends, risks and opportunities.
• A strong communicator, capable of preparing clear advice, reports and briefing materials for a range of audiences.
• Collaborative and stakeholder-focused, with the ability to build effective working relationships.
• Organised and adaptable, able to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes.
• Curious and forward-thinking, with an interest in policy, strategy and emerging issues affecting the resources sector.
• Qualified and/or experienced in a relevant discipline such as economics, political science, finance, law, planning, sustainability, science or a related field.

Essential Requirements

• Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or extensive experience in a related discipline such as economics, political science, finance, law, planning, sustainability or general science. 
• Compliance with pre-employment probity screening is mandatory and a condition of engagement

Who We Are

NSW Resources, a division of the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, is responsible for the strategic management, regulation, and sustainable development of New South Wales' mineral and energy resources. We support safe, responsible exploration and mining, working closely with communities, landholders, and industry stakeholders to balance economic growth with environmental protection.
