The Primary Care and Community Health Unit consists of 9 centres that provide a range of services for children, young people and their families, adults, older people and their carers. Our services range from health promotion, prevention and early detection through to assessment, treatment and continuing care. Our staff work in partnership with schools, GPs, hospitals, non-government agencies and other organisations to provide care across our centres, in people’s homes, other community venues as well as virtual care (telehealth).

Join us in shaping the future of trauma-informed responses to domestic and family violence and sexual assault across Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District. This is a new and exciting leadership opportunity within the Sexual Assault Service (SAS) created in recognition of the complex and vital work undertaken to provide early psychosocial support to victim-survivors of interpersonal violence.  The role reflects our commitment to delivering integrated, responsive and trauma-informed care for victim-survivors and their families during some of the most challenging periods of their lives.

This pivotal role combines strategic leadership with direct clinical practice, allowing you to influence service development while remaining connected to the experiences of victim-survivors, families and frontline clinicians. You will provide expert clinical leadership, championing evidence-informed and best-practice trauma interventions while fostering strong partnerships with stakeholders. Leading the daily management of the triage arm of the service, you will work closely with a collaborative team of clinicians to meet the early support needs of our clients.

What you will bring to the role

1. Qualification:

   • Social

   Work: Degree in Social Work from an accredited course providing eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers, or

   • Senior Psychologist: Degree in Psychology with full registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia and a current Senior Psychologist or eligible for Senior Psychologist grading (with no less than 12 months service at the 9th year of service and thereafter rate), or
   • Clinical Psychologist: Accredited Masters or Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and general registration as a psychologist with AHPRA with endorsement (or working towards endorsement) in the area of Clinical Psychology, or
   • Counselling: Minimum AQF level 7 qualification recognised or accredited by the Peak Body (PACFA) with eligibility for membership as a counsellor with PACFA.

2. Demonstrated high level specialist clinical experience, knowledge and understanding of best practice models, trauma informed approaches and clinical lenses for working with clients who have experienced trauma and abuse.
3. Demonstrated application of current policies and legislation relating to sexual assault, child protection, domestic violence and children under 10 with problematic and harmful sexualised behaviours with the ability to undertake change management and clinical redesign of services.
4. Demonstrated client-centred clinical assessment skills that support exploration and communication of the inter-related dynamics and effects of sexual assault, physical abuse and neglect, domestic violence and problematic harmful sexualised behaviours in children under 10.
5. Demonstrated high level interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication skills with experience in building internal and external network relationships stakeholders of both mutual and competing priorities to negotiate positive outcomes in emotionally charged situations with difficult and complex issues.
6. Demonstrated high level attention to detail, time and task prioritisation strategies, ability to negotiate complex clinical information systems and to build these capacities within a team.
7. Demonstrated ability to lead from where you are by taking initiative, influencing positive change and contributing to service quality and team culture
8. Current NSW State driver's licence (including P1 or above) with willingness to use for work purposes and ability to attend Nepean Hospital within 1 hour as required in participation of 24/7 crisis roster.
