Senior Project Officer Research Support- The Kirby Institute (Indigenous Targeted)

• Employment Type: Full - time (35 hours a week)
• Duration: 12 Months Fixed Term contract
• Remuneration: $118,483 base, plus 17% superannuation and leave loading 
• Work rights required: Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Candidates must hold full rights to work in Australia to be considered for this position.

Details of the role

The Senior Project Officer plays a key role in supporting research projects as part of a multidisciplinary team of researchers in the area of infectious diseases working with priority populations, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Specifically, the Senior Project Officer will contribute to the project management and research activities for the implementation and evaluation of new point-of-care testing programs.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to research that delivers meaningful health outcomes for priority communities. Working within a collaborative and multidisciplinary environment, you will support the planning, implementation and evaluation of innovative testing programs while managing a diverse portfolio of research and implementation activities.

The role offers the opportunity to engage with community organisations, health services, government agencies and research partners, helping to drive projects from initiation through to delivery. You will also contribute to research outputs, reports, publications and presentations, supporting evidence generation that informs policy, practice and improved health outcomes. This position is ideally suited to a highly organised professional with strong project management, stakeholder engagement and research support experience who is passionate about making a real-world impact.

The role reports to the Senior Lecturer and has no direct reports.

Some key skills required:

• Relevant tertiary qualification in public health, or equivalent through work experience. Masters in Public Health or equivalent is highly desirable.
• Proven project management experience, with an understanding of the project life cycle and development of project plans, objectives, reporting and documentation.
• Provide high-quality project management across multiple research and implementation initiatives.
• Coordinate, plan and complete day-to-day activities within the framework of agreed project timelines and responsibilities.
• Build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships with community organisations, health services, government agencies, funding bodies, and other key partners at local, jurisdictional, and national levels to support research prioritise and strategic objectives.
• Proactively assist with research reports, peer-reviewed publications, presentations, ethics applications and progress reports.
• Excellent stakeholder management with ability to foster strong healthy working relationships with a range of people at different levels, both internally and externally.
• Experience working with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples highly desired.
