Saxophone Instructor

We welcome applications from experienced and skilled saxophone instructors to join our thriving co-curricular music program from Term 4, 2026.

You will join a highly motivated, collaborative and supportive Music team. This is an ongoing position, currently at 5 hours per week with the potential to increase the instrumental load over time. Tuesday is the preferred working day; however, Monday or Wednesday will be considered.

Key aspects of the role:

• Plan and deliver high quality saxophone instruction to students across a range of year levels and abilities

• Prepare students for performances at key school events

• Prepare students for AMEB examinations

• Manage administrative tasks including maintaining accurate records of student attendance, performances and progress

• Contribute to and participate in the overall musical life of the school, and assist where required with the planning and conduct of music within the school community

• Assist and contribute to the planning of public performances, workshops and camps

• Develop and maintain positive relationships with colleagues, students and parents

Experience and qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree (BMus) or equivalent

• Current Working with Children Check (VIT registration preferred)

• Current level 2 First Aid, CPR Certificate, Asthma and Anaphylaxis  certificates or willingness to undertake training

• Capacity to direct ensembles

• Experience with the AMEB curriculum and facilitating external examinations

• Capacity and confidence to tutor across a range of musical styles

• Ability to teach flue (desirable).
