About the Role

Reporting to the Program Finance Manager, you will support the delivery of key finance and project accounting activities across a range of Defence programs.

The role combines project finance support with day-to-day SAP administration and financial processing responsibilities. You'll play an important role in maintaining accurate financial data, supporting project reporting and ensuring the smooth operation of finance processes across the business.

While the role includes a strong focus on SAP transaction processing and data management, it also provides valuable exposure to project costing, budgeting, forecasting, reporting and financial analysis.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Program Finance Manager and Project Accountants in the financial management of major projects and programs.
• Assist with project cost tracking, budget monitoring, forecasting and cash flow activities.
• Prepare project financial reports, management reporting packs and variance analysis.
• Support month-end and year-end activities, including journals, accruals, prepayments and reconciliations.
• Provide financial reporting and insights to Project Managers and key stakeholders.
• Raise and manage Purchase Requisitions (PRs) and support procurement workflows within SAP S/4HANA.
• Process invoices, monitor supplier payments and assist with customer billing activities.
• Maintain accurate finance and project master data within SAP and support data validation activities.
• Run finance and project reports and provide system support to internal stakeholders.
• Contribute to SAP enhancements, continuous improvement initiatives and finance process optimisation.

About You

You are someone who enjoys working with financial data and systems, takes ownership of your work and is motivated to continually learn and develop.

You'll bring:

• A tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related discipline
• Approximately 2 to 5 years' experience in accounting, finance, project accounting or finance administration
• Experience using SAP S/4HANA or a similar ERP system, including transaction processing, reporting and procurement workflows
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and Lookup functions
• Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
• Strong organisational and time management skills
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capability
• The ability to build strong working relationships across multiple business functions
• A proactive attitude and willingness to take initiative
• The ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment

Desirable Experience

• Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting and month-end activities
• Exposure to procurement processes, purchase requisitions and invoice processing
• Professional accounting studies or qualifications such as CA or CPA
• Experience within Defence, manufacturing, engineering or project-based environments
