Engagement Worker - Future Homes

About the role

As an Engagement Worker, you'll be a trusted ally, advocate and source of encouragement for people experiencing homelessness and other complex life challenges. Every day brings something different. You might be helping someone secure safe housing, reconnect with vital services, or take an important step towards independence. You might be celebrating a breakthrough that others would miss. And sometimes, the most powerful thing you can offer is a listening ear and a genuine sense of belonging.

Key responsibilities

• Building meaningful relationships and taking the time to understand each person's unique story

• Providing person-centred, trauma-informed support that empowers people to achieve their goals

• Supporting consumers to navigate housing, health, wellbeing and other life challenges

• Connecting people with services, advocating when needed and working collaboratively to achieve positive outcomes

• Creating safe, welcoming environments where people feel heard, respected and supported

• Maintaining accurate records and contributing to high-quality service delivery

About you

• Hold a qualification in Community Services, Mental Health, Social Work or a related field

• Experience supporting people experiencing homelessness is highly regarded

• Passionate about building relationships and supporting people through life's challenges

• Take a person-centred, trauma-informed approach that values strengths, choice and lived experience

• Remain calm, adaptable and solutions-focused in a dynamic environment

• Can confidently manage competing priorities while maintaining accurate records

• Curious, committed to continuous learning and always looking to grow your skills

About us

For 60 years, St Bart's has supported people experiencing homelessness and severe and persistent mental health issues as they rebuild their lives. We started as a small homeless shelter for men and have grown into a progressive and inclusive organisation providing support to hundreds of Western Australian men, women and families across four key service areas. Our goal is to provide safe, supported accommodation and services to people who need it the most, regardless of background, age, gender or ethnicity.
