About the role

Room10 is seeking a dedicated and hardworking Dish Hand / Kitchen Hand to join our team on a full-time basis in Potts Point, NSW. This is a crucial position that keeps our kitchen operations running smoothly, ensuring our chefs and kitchen staff have clean equipment and utensils to maintain our high standards of food preparation and presentation. You will play a vital role in maintaining hygiene standards, food safety compliance, and the overall efficiency of our kitchen environment.

Key responsibilities

• Washing, drying and storing all kitchen equipment, utensils, crockery and glassware to maintain cleanliness and food safety standards

• Maintaining clean and hygienic working surfaces, including prep areas, counters and floors throughout the kitchen

• Operating and maintaining dishwashing equipment, including commercial dishwashers and sterilisers

• Assisting with basic food preparation tasks such as vegetable peeling, portioning and prep work as directed by kitchen staff

• Organising and maintaining kitchen stock, ensuring equipment is stored correctly and inventory is managed efficiently

• Supporting the kitchen team during busy service periods to ensure smooth operations

• Following all health and safety protocols and maintaining compliance with food safety regulations

• Disposing of waste appropriately and keeping bins and waste areas clean and organised

• Reporting any equipment faults or maintenance issues to management promptly

What we're looking for

• Previous experience working in a kitchen, hospitality venue or similar fast-paced environment (advantageous but not essential for enthusiastic candidates)

• A strong commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene

• Ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure, particularly during busy service periods

• Team player with excellent communication skills and a positive attitude

• Physical capability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy items safely

• Reliability and punctuality with a willingness to follow instructions and learn new tasks

• Basic understanding of food safety and health and safety principles (or willingness to undertake training)

• Flexibility to work shifts including early mornings, evenings and potentially weekends as required
