Architect – Team Leader / Manager

About the role

We are seeking a driven and experienced Architect to lead and manage our design team. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will take full responsibility for the preparation, coordination, and lodgement of Development Applications for a diverse portfolio of projects — including houses, townhouses, estates, and residential schemes. This is a hands-on leadership position suited to someone who combines strong technical architectural skills with the people-management ability to mentor and direct a team, while keeping projects moving efficiently through council and planning processes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, manage, and mentor a team of architects and drafters, overseeing workflow, quality, and output

• Take full ownership of the DA process — preparing, coordinating, and lodging Development Applications for houses, townhouses, estates, and schemes

• Liaise with local councils, certifiers, and planning authorities to manage approvals and resolve issues

• Review and approve architectural drawings, documentation, and design packages prior to lodgement

• Coordinate with consultants (engineers, surveyors, town planners, etc.) to ensure compliance and design integrity

• Manage project timelines, priorities, and resourcing across multiple concurrent projects

• Report directly to the Managing Director on project status, risks, and team performance

• Ensure all work complies with relevant planning controls, codes, and Australian Standards

• Contribute to the ongoing development of internal design and DA-lodgement processes
