About the role

We are seeking a Workshop Leading Hand to join our team at our Wingfield SA 5013 facility on a full-time basis. In this role, you will be responsible for leading workshop operations, supervising a team of technicians, and ensuring that all work is completed to the highest standards of quality and efficiency. As a key member of our automotive trades operation, you will play a vital role in maintaining our reputation for excellence whilst ensuring customer satisfaction and operational productivity.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate the work of workshop technicians, ensuring all tasks are completed safely and to specification

• Oversee the maintenance, repair and servicing of high-pressure cleaning equipment

• Manage workshop schedules and workloads to ensure timely completion of jobs

• Conduct quality checks on completed work and ensure compliance with safety standards

• Communicate with customers regarding job progress, timeframes and any issues that may arise

• Maintain accurate records of work undertaken, parts used and hours worked

• Identify training needs and support the professional development of team members

• Ensure workshop facilities and equipment are kept clean, organised and in good working order

• Liaise with management on operational matters, staffing issues and performance metrics

• Assist in troubleshooting complex technical problems and provide guidance to junior staff

What we're looking for

• Several years of experience working in an automotive or mechanical workshop environment

• Proven supervisory or leading hand experience, with the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively

• Strong technical knowledge of vehicle maintenance, repairs and diagnostics

• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities

• Sound understanding of health and safety requirements in a workshop setting

• Good communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with customers and staff

• Problem-solving ability and attention to detail

• Valid driver's licence and willingness to undertake relevant training or certifications as required

• Preferably, experience with high-pressure cleaning equipment or similar specialised machinery
