Role Overview
An experienced Leading Hand Fitter is required to support maintenance operations at Appin Mine. This role provides hands-on leadership, overseeing a team of fitters while ensuring safe, efficient maintenance of underground mobile equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise a team of underground fitters on shift
• Carry out maintenance, servicing, and repairs on heavy mobile mining equipment
• Coordinate planned maintenance and breakdown response activities
• Diagnose faults and ensure timely, quality repairs
• Allocate work tasks and monitor team performance
• Ensure all work is completed in line with site and statutory requirements
• Complete maintenance reports, work orders, and documentation
• Maintain high housekeeping standards and workshop organisation
• Liaise with supervisors and operations to minimise downtime
• Promote strong safety culture and adherence to procedures

Requirements

• Trade qualification in Heavy Diesel or Mobile Plant (essential)
• Extensive experience maintaining underground mining equipment
• Previous Leading Hand or supervisory experience
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
• Ability to lead teams in a fast-paced mining environment
• Strong commitment to safety and compliance
• Valid driver’s licence
• Ability to work rotating rosters (e.g. 5/2 or site-specific)
