Junior Assistant Accountant

Reporting to the Finance Manager, the junior assistant accountant will follow strategies and policies as implemented by the Finance Manager.  Assist the Finance team to manage day-to-day accounting procedures, minimize cost, assist other departments with finance queries when required.  Be proactive in problem solving, learning and applying knowledge to all logical processes. 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

Accounts Payable 

• Processing supplier and intercompany bills, credits, weekly and monthly statement reconciliations, reconcile the aged payables and other ad hoc vendor reconciliations, liaise with the suppliers for any bill’s discrepancies 

• Manage all emails on payables.au mailbox 

• Assist with maintenance of employee expense approvals per company policy within our expense management system 

• Ensure all PO’s are receipted and Landed Costs added 

• Reconcile the PCard and entered in Fusion 

Accounts Receivable 

• Assist with compliance checks and credit applications, ensure all shipped orders are invoiced, follow up debtors, send out customer statements and reconcile the aged receivables  

• Process daily customer receipts 

• Liaising with internal and external stakeholders daily to ensure any issues are resolved promptly 

General Ledger Accounting 

• Daily bank reconciliations and banking entries 

• Process the daily create accounting processes and ensure all errors are cleared 

• Other ad hoc duties to support the team; orders from Officeworks, Coles, etc., orders. 

Other Requirements: 

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting (or working towards) 

• Minimum of 1 year experience within a similar role 

• Experience with general ledger / AR Collections highly regarded 

• Computer literacy, intermediate knowledge of M365 Office suite and Excel   

• Experience with Oracle Fusion highly regarded. 

• Confidence in dealing with internal and external stakeholders always ensuring confidentiality
