Assistant Principal - Dalmeny Public School

Dalmeny Public School is committed to providing a dynamic, inclusive, and supportive learning environment where every student is known, valued, and cared for, and empowered to achieve their full potential. Located in Prestons, within the Liverpool local government area, Dalmeny PS has an enrolment of approximately 650 students from Kindergarten to Year 6 in mainstream and seven support unit classes. The student population is culturally and linguistically diverse, with over 70% of students from a language background other than English. Approximately 2.5% of students identify as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander. The school is committed to inclusive practices that support the diverse learning and wellbeing needs of all students.

Teaching and support staff demonstrate a strong commitment to delivering high-quality, evidence-informed teaching through explicit instruction and differentiated practice. Literacy and numeracy are key priorities, with a focus on improving student growth and achievement through consistent, school-wide approaches. Evidence-based programs are implemented alongside a multi-tiered system of support to meet the needs of all learners.

A key feature of the school is its collaborative partnership with four neighbouring network schools. This alliance supports the implementation of consistent, explicit teaching practices across literacy and numeracy, with a strong focus on professional learning, shared curriculum planning and the co-development of high-quality syllabus-aligned units of work. Data is systematically collected, analysed and used to inform targeted teaching and monitor student progress. This collaborative approach strengthens teacher capability, enhances consistency of teacher judgement and promotes continuity of learning across the network.

Dalmeny Public School provides a broad and engaging curriculum, including opportunities in technology, creative arts, sport and student leadership. A strong emphasis is placed on student wellbeing, with whole-school practices that promote a safe, respectful and supportive learning environment where students feel a strong sense of belonging.

The school values strong partnerships with families and the wider community. Connections with local organisations, including the Aboriginal Education Consultative Group (AECG) and Casula High School, enhance student engagement and support successful transitions.
