Purchasing and Supply Officer

Barto Gold is an Australian Gold explorer, developer, and producer who has been operating since 2009 and is focused on gold exploration and production in Western Australia. The operation consists of a 1.8Mtpa processing plant, 3 active underground mine, 1 active open pit, with new mines started in 2025 as part of the companies 5-year plan and a vision to reach 150,000oz/pa by 2028.

About the Role

Reporting to the Supply Superintendent, the Purchasing & Supply Officer provides hands-on support across the end-to-end purchasing and supply process for Barto Gold's Southern Cross operations.

The role is responsible for ensuring goods and services are sourced, ordered, delivered and receipted in a timely and compliant manner. This includes raising purchase requisitions, sourcing quotations, issuing and expediting purchase orders, engaging with suppliers and maintaining accurate purchasing and inventory information within our ERP system.

You will work closely with Maintenance, Processing, Projects, Finance, Accounts Payable and other site stakeholders, providing purchasing advice and helping ensure operational requirements are supported effectively.

A key component of the position is coordinating freight logistics, including urgent deliveries and hot shots, as well as assisting with the sourcing and justification of critical spares to minimise operational downtime.

While purchasing is the primary focus of the position, you will also work closely with the Warehouse team and provide hands-on support with freight, goods receipting, stock replenishment and inventory activities when required.

Key Responsibilities

• Raise and manage purchase requisitions and purchase orders.
• Source quotations and engage with suppliers to achieve compliant and best-value purchasing outcomes.
• Monitor and expedite outstanding orders to ensure materials and services are delivered within required timeframes.
• Provide purchasing advice and support to operational stakeholders.
• Investigate purchasing and invoice discrepancies in conjunction with suppliers and Accounts Payable.
• Coordinate freight logistics, including scheduled freight, urgent deliveries and hot shots.
• Source critical spares and assist stakeholders with appropriate purchasing justification.
• Monitor inventory levels, reorder stock and maintain accurate stock information within the ERP system.
• Maintain and update supplier pricing and assist with procurement reporting and KPI tracking.
• Complete goods receipting within the ERP system where required.
• Support Warehouse activities, including unloading, processing and receipting incoming freight.
• Assist with inventory management, material master data and cataloguing activities.
• Identify and participate in continuous improvement opportunities across purchasing and supply processes.
• Maintain a strong commitment to safe working practices and Barto Gold's safety, environmental and operational requirements.

About You

You will be a practical and organised purchasing or supply professional who is comfortable working in a fast-paced mining environment where operational priorities can change quickly.

You will have strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills and be confident working directly with suppliers, operational departments, Finance and the Warehouse team.

You will be capable of managing your own workload, prioritising competing requirements and following purchasing activities through from initial request to delivery and receipting.

A proactive approach to problem-solving, attention to detail and willingness to support the broader Supply team will be important to your success in the role.

Essential Requirements

• Previous experience in a purchasing or supply chain role within mining, resources or a comparable industrial environment.
• Strong ERP system skills, such as SAP or Pronto, with demonstrated purchasing experience.
• Knowledge of procurement processes including requisitions, purchase orders, expediting, receipting and compliance.
• Demonstrated experience sourcing quotations, expediting orders, investigating invoices and liaising with suppliers.
• Experience with stock reordering and maintaining accurate inventory information within ERP systems.
• Exposure to warehouse activities, freight receipting and logistics coordination.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to provide advice and support to stakeholders.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage and prioritise workload effectively.
• Ability to work independently and respond to changing operational priorities.
• Current Australian Driver's Licence.
• Current Forklift Licence.

Desirable

• Experience using SAP S/4HANA Fiori.
• Certificate or Diploma in Procurement or Supply Chain, or CIPS accreditation.
• Mining industry procurement experience.
• Experience with critical spares management.
• Experience with supplier performance reporting and pricing updates.
• Experience with material master data, cataloguing and inventory accuracy controls.
• Procurement KPI and reporting experience.
• Extensive forklift operating experience.
