What's the role?

News24 is looking for a driven Digital Reporter to join one of the country's most trusted and fast-moving digital platforms. In this position, you will produce impactful stories that inform, challenge, and engage audiences across Australian and international contexts while upholding the highest editorial standards. 

About the role:

• Deliver clean, publish-ready copy quickly and accurately to meet tight breaking-news deadlines. You will verify information, cross-check details, and ensure every update is legally sound and credible before publication.

• Pitch and pursue original, exclusive stories. You will maintain a diverse and reliable contact network across a wide range of topics including politics, lifestyle, and crime.

• Use the WordPress CMS to publish well-formatted stories with correct tagging, categorization, and visual presentation. You will also curate the News24.com.au homepage based on relevance, performance, and audience interest.

• Identify and repurpose newsworthy interviews, opinion pieces, and key moments from News24 broadcasts to extend the impact of on-air journalism.

• Work closely with video and social teams to ensure stories are paired with strong visuals, clips, and headlines that enhance impact without compromising standards.

• Analyze audience data and feedback to refine story framing and presentation. You will consistently prioritize accuracy, balance, and credibility over click-driven metrics.

Who are you?

• You produce original, publish-ready journalism across a wide range of topics with clarity, accuracy, and editorial authority.

• You maintain composure and clear communication under pressure, performing at a high standard under deadline pressure in a fast-paced, continuous news environment.

• You have strong digital publishing skills, including proficiency in WordPress CMS, metadata conventions, SEO practices, and homepage curation.

• You apply a rigorous approach to fact-checking and source verification, ensuring all published output meets the highest standards of factual integrity.

• You hold broad and current knowledge of political, domestic, and global affairs, as well as lifestyle trends across both Australian and international contexts.

• You work constructively with editors, producers, video teams, and on-air talent, sharing leads and updates openly.
