Purchasing Officer - Commercial Joinery

About the role

One Stop Joinery is seeking an experienced Purchasing Officer to coordinate purchasing and materials for our commercial joinery business based on the Sunshine Coast.

This position is required to maintain inventory levels of raw materials and supplies, supporting seamless production operations. You will identify, evaluate, and select reliable suppliers and vendors, generate and process purchase orders, monitor and manage inventory levels, and negotiate favorable pricing and terms with suppliers to achieve competitive pricing and cost savings.

Key responsibilities

• Purchasing and expediting materials, raising and processing purchase requisitions and purchase orders

• Working closely with Operations and the Estimation team to identify material needs and supporting internal and external stakeholders with purchasing queries

• Negotiating with suppliers to optimize price, delivery, and terms, while fostering strong supplier and contractor relationships

• Assisting with stock control and inventory management across operations

• Monitoring and following up on outstanding orders, while maintaining supplier database

• Assessing and preparing material take-offs for all projects to ensure materials are in ahead of production manufacturing

• Checking and approving all creditor invoices against purchase orders and term supplier quotes

• Maintaining company stock transfer spreadsheet for monthly reporting and quarterly stock take

• Communicating with Project and Production staff to ensure they are aware of supplier timeframes and delays

About you

• 2 years' experience in a similar role or industry

• Forklift License (an advantage)

• Experience in negotiating with multiple vendors to meet specified budget

• Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)

• Excellent verbal and written communication

• Organized and able to meet deadlines

• Ability to build strong relationships with vendors

• Strong analytical skills

• Proficiency with scheduling software (preferably Trello)
