MULBERRY GROUP PTY LTD The Cook will be responsible for preparing, seasoning, cooking, and presenting high-quality food in accordance with approved recipes, food safety requirements, and presentation standards. The successful candidate will work closely with the kitchen team to ensure efficient food preparation, maintain consistency and quality, manage food supplies, and support the smooth day-to-day operation of the kitchen.
This is a hands-on, full-time position suited to a motivated culinary professional who can work effectively in a fast-paced commercial kitchen environment. Prepare, season, and cook food in accordance with approved recipes and menu requirements.
Regulate and monitor the temperatures of ovens, grills, and other cooking equipment. Measure, clean, chop, blend, season, heat, and cook ingredients using appropriate cooking techniques. Monitor cooking processes to ensure food is properly cooked and presented to the required standard.
Portion food accurately and prepare dishes with appropriate sauces, garnishes, and accompaniments. Prepare meals to meet dietary requirements and special customer requests where required. Maintain consistency in food quality, taste, portion size, and presentation.
Store food and ingredients correctly in temperature-controlled facilities. Maintain appropriate stock rotation and minimise food wastage. Assist with monitoring food inventory and kitchen supply requirements.
Assist with menu planning, estimating food requirements, and developing new recipes or menu items where required. Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of kitchen equipment, utensils, workstations, and food preparation areas. Comply with food safety, hygiene, sanitation, and workplace health and safety requirements.
Work collaboratively with Chefs and other kitchen staff to ensure efficient kitchen operations. Assist with training and supporting junior kitchen staff and apprentices where required. Qualification & experience AQF Certificate III in Commercial Cookery, including appropriate on-the-job training, or an AQF Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery, or an equivalent recognised qualification.
Alternatively, substantial relevant experience may substitute for formal qualifications where applicable. Minimum 1 - 3 year of relevant full-time experience as a Cook or in a similar commercial kitchen role. Demonstrated experience preparing, seasoning, and cooking a variety of food items in a restaurant, café, catering, hotel, or commercial kitchen environment.
Sound knowledge of commercial cooking techniques and safe food preparation practices. Ability to operate and regulate ovens, grills, and other commercial kitchen equipment. Good understanding of food safety, hygiene, sanitation, and temperature-control requirements.
Ability to maintain quality and consistency in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Strong communication, teamwork, organisational, and time-management skills. Ability and willingness to work a minimum of 38 ordinary hours per week, with reasonable additional hours as required by operational needs.
