About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Drafting / 3D Design Engineer to join our engineering team in Ingleburn, Sydney. In this office-based role you will be responsible for creating accurate 3D models, detailed designs and manufacturing drawings using Autodesk Inventor. You will also work with point cloud data and 3D scan information captured with Leica systems to support 3D modelling, as-built documentation and design validation.

Key Responsibilities

• Create, modify, and manage 3D models and assemblies in Autodesk Inventor

• Produce detailed 2D manufacturing drawings, general arrangement drawings, and fabrication documentation from 3D models

• Develop concept designs and convert them into production-ready models and drawings

• Process, clean and utilise point cloud data from Leica 3D scanning systems

• Integrate scanned point cloud information into Inventor models for 3D modelling, clash detection, and as-built verification

• Collaborate with engineers, project managers and workshop teams to ensure designs meet technical, manufacturing, and client requirements

• Maintain drawing standards, version control, and project documentation

• Support design reviews and provide technical input during the design and fabrication process.

• Ensure all work complies with relevant Australian standards and company quality procedures

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

Essential

• Qualified Mechanical Draftsperson, Mechanical Designer, or relevant Engineering qualification.

• Proven experience using Autodesk Inventor for 3D modelling and design drafting.

• Experience working with point cloud data and 3D scanning technologies.

• Strong understanding of mechanical and/or structural drafting principles.

• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and scan data.

• Experience producing detailed manufacturing and fabrication drawings.

• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.

• Ability to work full-time from our Ingleburn office.

Desirable

• Approximately 2+ years' relevant industry experience.

• Experience using Leica 3D scanning systems and software.

• Experience in 3D modelling from scan data.

• Knowledge of AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or other CAD packages.

• Experience within fabrication, steelwork, materials handling or plant/equipment design.

• Understanding of Australian drafting and manufacturing standards.
