Architectural Draftsperson

With a diversifying portfolio, Bates Smart is looking for an experienced Architectural Draftsperson to join our Sydney studio. We welcome candidates with strong technical documentation skills and demonstrated experience working in a Revit/BIM environment. Working collaboratively with our project teams, you will support the delivery of architects’ design concepts through the preparation, development and coordination of high-quality architectural drawings, plans and project documentation.
ResponsibilitiesCollaboratively working with the Project Team under the guidance of the Project Leader in the preparation, development and coordination of project documentation, including but not limited to:Collaboratively work with the Project Team under the guidance of the Project Leader to complete architects' concepts by preparing and developing architectural drawings, plans and project documentation.Prepare, develop, edit and revise preliminary sketches, working drawings, architectural plans, elevations, sections, details and schedules using Revit and, where required, other CAD/BIM software.Interpret architectural drawings, design information and specifications, applying relevant building codes, regulations, standards, materials and construction methods to project documentation.Develop representations of design options and translate design concepts into coordinated technical drawings for review and further development by the project team.Coordinate architectural documentation with structural, mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and other consultant information to support integrated project outcomes.Prepare and coordinate documentation for project delivery, including authority submissions, tender and construction documentation.Liaise and communicate with architects, consultants, builders, contractors and other project stakeholders to clarify and coordinate drawings, plans, specifications and project requirements.Review and revise project documentation in response to project team, consultant and construction feedback, and assist with clarification of drawings, specifications and documentation during the construction phase.
Essential skills and expereinceA minimum AQF Advanced Diploma (or equivalent) level qualification in architectural drafting, building design, architectural technology or a related discipline, or at least three years relevant industry experience.Proficiency in Revit and demonstrated experience producing architectural drawings and documentation in a BIM environment.Ability to interpret architectural drawings, plans, specifications, building codes, regulations and consultant documentation.Experience preparing and revising detailed architectural documentation across relevant project stages.Understanding of construction methods, materials and documentation coordination.Ability to work collaboratively within a teamAbility to meet project objectives, deadlines and documentation standards.Strong attention to detail and accuracy.Demonstrated ability to work under minimal supervision

Salary Range$90,000 to $100,000 (commensurate with expereince)
