Tradesperson – Sheet Metal Worker

AJ Baker & Sons are a fourth generation, family owned company, established in 1920 with branches throughout Australia. Located in WA, SA, NSW, VIC & QLD, we specialise in; supply, installation, service and maintenance of commercial refrigeration and air conditioning for supermarkets and other commercial businesses.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, reliable, suitably qualified and experienced Tradesperson to join the Osborne Park Workshop team on a permanent fulltime basis.

This is an excellent opportunity to build your career in the commercial refrigeration industry, working on the fabrication and installation of refrigerated display systems, cool rooms, supermarket equipment and associated sheet metal components. The role involves both workshop fabrication and on-site installation work across Western Australia.

You will be responsible for:

• Fabricate sheet metal components including marking out, cutting, shaping, forming, joining and finishing to specification.

• Perform high-quality TIG, MIG and stainless-steel welding.

• Read and interpret fabrication drawings, measurements and technical documentation.

• Assist with the installation, positioning and modification of refrigerated display cases, cabinets and associated equipment.

• Support installation teams with workshop preparation, fabrication and on-site works.

• Operate workshop machinery, fabrication equipment and forklifts (where licensed) safely and efficiently.

• Maintain a clean, safe and organised workshop and worksite.

• Comply with company WHS policies, Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) and Safety Data Sheets (SDS).

• Work collaboratively with colleagues, customers and contractors to deliver quality outcomes.

• Undertake other duties within your skills and experience as required.

To be a successful candidate, you will possess:

• Permanent working rights in Australia.

• Current WA Driver's Licence.

• Trade qualification in Sheet Metal Work is advantageous but not essential.

• Demonstrated experience in sheet metal fabrication, welding and installation is required.

• Competency in TIG, MIG and stainless-steel welding.

• Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and technical documentation.

• Forklift Licence (or willingness to obtain).

• Strong understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.

• Excellent communication and customer service skills.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• A reliable, safety-focused approach and commitment to quality workmanship.

• Willingness to successfully complete a pre-employment medical assessment, including drug and alcohol screening, if required.
