Join our dedicated Intensive Care Unit team at Lyell McEwin Hospital and provide exceptional care to some of our most vulnerable patients. 

Located in Adelaide's northern suburbs, you'll work alongside dedicated healthcare professionals providing critical care to patients requiring intensive monitoring and life-saving interventions. Our ICU team is committed to evidence-based practice and continuous professional development.

This casual position offers flexible working arrangements while delivering exceptional patient care in our state-of-the-art intensive care unit until 31 March 2027.

What You'll Do

As an ICU Registered Nurse, you will:

• Deliver person-centred, evidence-based nursing care to critically ill patients
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care in a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment
• Respond promptly to clinical deterioration and escalate appropriately
• Support and mentor students and less experienced staff, fostering a culture of learning and excellence
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient safety and outcomes

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• strong assessment and clinical decision-making skills, and the ability to work effectively under pressure
• strong interpersonal and communication skills which will enable you to successfully problem solve, resolve conflicts and negotiate, including the ability to engage in difficult conversations, whilst building and maintaining relationships
• an ability to effectively manage multiple, diverse and competing priorities and demonstrated resilience within a stressful and complex environment
• commitment to high-quality patient and family-centred care
• Minimum three years experience working within ICU

To be eligible for appointment to this role, you must be registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.

Post-graduate qualifications in Critical Care Nursing (Intensive Care) will be highly regarded.

Our Local Health Network Sites and Services:

Lyell McEwin Hospital – The major hospital in the north and north-east for emergency care, complex and multi-day surgery, medicine, obstetrics, paediatrics and outpatient services.

Modbury Hospital – A general hospital with emergency care, elective surgery, medicine, outpatient and sub-acute services, rehabilitation, geriatric and palliative care.

Mental Health - The Division of Mental Health provides a comprehensive range of public mental health services for youth, adults and older people in northern Adelaide. Services are provided through community health centres and hospitals, and to consumers in their own homes. 

Forensic Mental Health - A statewide service that operates as part of the Division of Mental Health for forensic patients and prisoners. 

Community Sites - Elizabeth GP Plus, Modbury GP Plus and Gilles Plains GP Plus Super Clinics providing community based care.
