Injury and Claims Lead

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping our injury management strategy, influencing business decisions through data and forecasting, and leading initiatives that improve outcomes for our people while reducing claim costs and premium impacts.

About the role:

Injury & Claims Lead, you will be responsible for overseeing the strategic and operational management of workplace injury claims and associated insurance programs. You will provide expert advice and leadership on workers' compensation matters, premium management, common law claims, injury prevention initiatives, and performance reporting.

Working closely with operational leaders, insurers, legal representatives and rehabilitation providers, you will identify opportunities to improve claim outcomes, reduce costs, and deliver long-term premium savings for the organisation.

Leading a small but highly focused team, you will operate with a high degree of autonomy and is expected to manage complex claims, insurer relationships, legal strategy and regulatory compliance independently, escalating to the General Manager Workplace Health Safety and Wellbeing on matters of significant financial or reputational risk.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the management and governance of all workplace injury and workers' compensation claims.
• Oversee complex, high-risk and litigated claims, including common law matters.
• Manage the organisation's workers' compensation insurance premium portfolio.
• Analyse and interpret premium calculations and claims performance drivers.
• Develop forecasting models to predict future premium impacts and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Influence and educate stakeholders on injury management best practices.

About You:

• Tertiary Qualification in Occupational Therapy, Allied Health, Work Health and Safety or a related field
• Proven ability to identify trends and implement strategies that improve claims outcomes and reduce costs.
• Highly developed analytical and reporting skills, including claims performance analysis and forecasting. Experience managing or overseeing common law claims.
• Minimum 7 years’ experience in workers compensation, injury and claims
• Experience managing Workers Compensation premium, including forecasting, wage declarations and premium contestation, and Return-to-work program
