The Chef will be responsible for preparing and cooking menu items to a consistently high standard and contributing to the efficient day-to-day operation of the commercial kitchen. Key Responsibilities Prepare, cook and present dishes in accordance with menu specifications and established kitchen standards; Monitor the quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation; Assist with menu planning and development; Monitor food preparation, portion control and food costs; Assist with stock control, ordering and stock rotation; Ensure appropriate storage and handling of food and ingredients; Maintain food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety standards; Minimise food wastage and contribute to effective cost control; Coordinate with other kitchen staff during preparation and service; Maintain kitchen equipment, workstations and food preparation areas to required standards; and Assist with the supervision and training of junior kitchen staff where required. Qualification & experience Applicants should have: A relevant qualification in Commercial Cookery or equivalent; At least 2 years of relevant experience as a Chef; Experience working in a commercial kitchen environment; Sound knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques and kitchen operations; Good understanding of food safety and hygiene requirements; Ability to work effectively in a busy, high-volume kitchen; Good communication and teamwork skills; and A reliable and professional approach to work.

Experience in seafood preparation, modern Australian cuisine or a high-volume hospitality venue will be highly regarded.
