Why this role exists
We're at a pivotal moment. As a subsidiary of Sidetrade with a growing payments operation processing over $1BN annually, we need robust financial controls, timely reporting, and governance that scales. We also have a major systems migration ahead - moving from Xero to NetSuite - which will transform how we operate financially.
We are seeking a reliable Finance Manager to take ownership of financial reporting integrity, compliance, and audit management across the group.
In this role, you will oversee the accounting function through leadership of the Finance Team and act as the primary custodian of the company’s financial control environment.
This is a high-trust, high-autonomy role focused on governance, reporting discipline, and financial oversight within a growing organisation.
Your team
You'll lead a small finance team and work closely with the Payments Manager as we scale our operations and platform in the US and Europe, and liaise regularly with our French headquarters on reporting and finance matters.
The team is hands-on, collaborative, and practical. We value accuracy, integrity, and continuous improvement. You'll have autonomy to shape finance processes and reporting as we scale, and you'll be the primary custodian of our financial control environment.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Governance
Oversee and review month-end and year-end close processes across the groupEnsure the accuracy, integrity and timeliness of consolidated financial statementsMaintain strong balance sheet governance, including review of reconciliations and supporting schedulesOversee revenue recognition and ensure compliance with applicable accounting standardsReview management reporting packs prior to submission to the CFOEnsure financial documentation is audit-ready and consistently maintainedIdentify and proactively address financial reporting risksSupport budgeting processes and conduct variance analysis against forecasts and budgetsLiaise with the French headquarters on reporting and finance matters
Cashflow Management
Oversee the company’s cashflow position and maintain appropriate liquidity across the groupOversee payroll processes and ensure timely and accurate payrunsSupervise Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable operations to maintain healthy working capital
Tax & Regulatory Compliance
Oversee corporate income tax compliance across relevant global jurisdictionsManage BAS, GST, R&D tax incentives and other statutory lodgementsManage relationships with external tax advisors and regulatory bodiesEnsure compliance with local accounting standards and regulatory requirementsMaintain robust documentation and governance frameworks across compliance areas
Audit & Control Environment
Lead the external audit process and manage relationships with auditorsPrepare audit schedules and coordinate responses to audit queriesMaintain and strengthen internal control frameworksEnsure appropriate segregation of duties across finance processesMonitor key financial risks and implement mitigation controlsDrive improvements in financial controls and reporting efficiency
Leadership & Oversight
Manage, mentor and develop members of a small offshore finance teamProvide technical guidance on complex accounting mattersEstablish clear accountability, ownership and performance standards within financeEnsure finance operations are well-controlled, disciplined and scalableFoster a culture of accuracy, integrity and continuous improvement
Strategic & Ad-Hoc Support
Provide financial insights to support executive decision-makingAssist with management and head office reporting, financial commentary and investor updatesSupport profitability analysis, margin review and cost optimisation initiativesContribute to process improvement and system enhancement initiatives
About You
CA or CPA qualified4+ years of progressive experience in accounting and financial reportingStrong technical accounting and compliance expertiseAdvanced Xero and/or NetSuite and Excel skillsExperience in SaaS, payments, technology or multi-entity environments is highly regardedHigh attention to detail with a structured and disciplined approachCommercially minded with the ability to provide practical financial insights
