About the role
At HomeStart we believe affordable home ownership is fundamental to strong, thriving communities. As a local home lender backed by the South Australian State Government, we support people often excluded from mainstream lending, by offering innovative financial solutions. We’re looking for a Lending Support Officer to join our Customer Excellence & Support team on a full time basis. This is a customer‑facing role where your empathy, lending knowledge and attention to detail will help more South Australians take confident steps towards home ownership.
In this role, you’ll be the first point of contact for many of our customers, whether via phone, online or in person. You’ll provide clear, accurate information on home loans, assess customer readiness and support our customers, brokers and internal Home Loan Specialists throughout the application journey, right through to settlement. You’ll play a key role in ensuring customers feel informed, supported and empowered, while also providing strong administrative and operational support to keep our lending process running smoothly.
Respond to new and existing home loan enquiries using a one‑call resolution approach
Provide accurate, up‑to‑date lending information with empathy and clarity
Conduct initial eligibility assessments and refer suitable customers to Home Loan Specialists
Support customers and brokers through the loan application lifecycle to settlement
Complete accurate call notes, records and document management in line with policy
Assist with loan administration, coordination of meetings and follow‑ups
Act as the first point of contact for walk‑in customers and visitors
Contribute to service delivery standards, KPIs and a positive team culture
You enjoy helping people navigate complex information and take pride in delivering thoughtful, high‑quality service. You’re organised, approachable and confident communicating with a wide range of customers.
You’ll bring:
At least two years’ experience in a customer service role, ideally in lending or financial services
Working knowledge of mortgage lending and home loan processes
Strong listening, communication and numerical skills
The ability to interpret policies and apply them to real customer scenarios
Confidence using Microsoft Office and customer management systems
A collaborative, solutions‑focused mindset
Certificate IV in Finance & Mortgage Broking (desirable)
